Punjabi Chole...hmmmm...its yummy......It is my all time favorite dish.A couple of years ago, I ate this dish at a friend’s place and I asked her for the recipe. It was a simple recipe, It was delicious. Serve them with Puri or Roti. So friends with out much ado lets start the recipe & I hope you enjoy making this recipe as much as I enjoyed.
Ingredients:
1 cup chickpeas (Wash and soak the chickpeas in enough water overnight)
1 tea bag
2-3 medium sized onions chopped
2 large tomatoes chopped
2-3 tsp ginger/ garlic paste
½ tsp haldi powder
1/2 tsp garam masala
1 tsp Red chilly powder
2 chopped green chillies
½ tsp amchur powder
2-3tsp oil
Salt
Chopped coriander leaves
Dry masala:
1tsp cumin seeds
1tsp coriander seeds
1tsp fennel seeds
2 cloves
1 bay leaf
1-2 black cardamoms
1” cinnamon
5 black pepper
(In a pan roast all the above spices On a low flame. Keep on tossing it otherwise they may get burnt. Once they are cooled, grind them into a fine powder.)
Method:
Pressures cook the chickpeas with enough water, salt, tea bag and Let it give 5-6 whistles. The chickpeas should be soft when you mash it with a spoon.
Now in the same pan, add oil. Once the oil becomes hot, add the chopped onions, green chillies. Fry till they become transparent. Add haldi & chilly powder.Saute for 2-3 sec.Now add the ginger & garlic paste. Once the raw smell of the disappears & oil separates from masala, then add the chopped tomatoes. Add the powdered spices to the gravy. Now add the boiled chickpeas.Stir for some time.add ½ cup of water. Simmer for 5-7 minutes. Finally, add the amchur powder & garam masala. Garnish with sliced onions, lime and coriander leaves.
You can Serve Hot with Puri, kulcha,naan & rice......
