Gota Bhendi Masala (Stuffed okra using mustard paste odisha style)



This time I m posting one of a  famous odisha recipe of stuffed okra which I made last night....I m a die hard okra fan & this is one of my fav recipe...I loved it Yummyas a kid  when  my Maa served woth love. I can't match  her in any way but I tried & it came out well   afterall moms are moms...:)...Try the recipe when you hav time &  see how this can beat any type of vegetables. so here is the easy recipe....




Ingredients

Okra/ bhindi  – 8-10 nos
Mustard seeds – 1tblsp
Cumin seeds-  1tsp
Garlic-2-3 cloves
Green chilli – 2 nos
Turmeric powder – ½ tea spoon
Salt –as per taste
Oil – 2 table spoon
  
Method:
Slit okra lengthwise . Boil okras for 2-3 min with adding little bit salt (it should not be too soft).
When done drain all the water & let it dry.
Soak the mustad & cumins for half an hour & then add garlic & green chilly in to it. Grind them in to a fine paste.
Heat a pan with one tea spoon of oil add the blended masala &  sauté for 10 secs. Add ¼ cup water in to it. Let it boil & then when all the water evaporates from the masala , put salt & mix well. when  masala becomes dry switch off the flame.
 Now masala mix for stuffing bhindi is ready.
 Now stuff carefully all okras with masala mix.
Heat a pan . Add oil. place 5 to 6 okras on the pan and cook in low flame; gently turn okras to all sides to cook evenly. cook till okra is soft.
the colour of okra will change from green colour to light brown as it is cooked.



 Repeat the process for remaining okras also. Your stuffed okra is now ready to serve. Serve with Rice or Chappati.
